What is Under 6 Soccer?
Under 6 Soccer (aka KINS Program - Kicking Is Not Soccer) is a wonderful program designed to introduce young children to the game of soccer. First and foremost, U6 soccer is about kids having FUN! At the U6 level, kids play small-sided soccer in a 3v3 format emphasizing fun and basic soccer skills. We have separate teams for GIRLS and BOYS and teams are limited to a maximum of six players per team. Each child plays at least half of every game. U6 soccer differs from soccer in older age groups in that (1) no score is kept, (2) coaches are on the field with the players during the game encouraging the players and teaching them basic soccer, (3) the playing field is small (usually 20 yards wide by 30 yards long), and (4) there is no goalkeeper.
Who can participate?
Boys and Girls whose birthdates fall within the specified time periods are eligible to play U6 soccer. To verify your child’s eligibility to play U6 soccer, click on the Age Group Chart.

The U6 season is a ten (10) week season. The spring season begins the first week of March and ends in the middle of May. The fall season starts the weekend after Labor Day in September and continues through the middle of November. The teams practice during the week and play games Saturday mornings.

How can I help with U6 Soccer?
Adult volunteers are always needed and welcome for the U6 Age Group! If you are interested in being a head coach or an assistant coach, please so indicate on your registration form or contact the U6 Lead Age Group Coordinator. No previous soccer coaching experience or soccer knowledge is expected or required. The Club’s Director of Coaching, Chris Mahaffey, conducts soccer coaching courses before every season for all U6 soccer coaches. Coach Mahaffey will teach you everything you need to know to be a great U6 soccer coach and provide you with coaching handouts and materials for the season. After the teams are formed and coaches recruited, each team will need a Team Parent to assist the team coaches with administrative duties, including the preparation of a snack schedule, indicating whose family is bringing the after the game snacks and planning the team’s end of the season party. If you are willing to serve as a Team Parent, please so indicate on the registration form or let your coach know of your willingness to help out.
